Dunklin Fire Hires Three Additional Full Time Paid Firefighters
(Post Date 01-22-2008)
The Dunklin Fire Protection District Board of Directors and Fire Chief Gary McClain announced the hiring of three additional full time paid firefighters to it’s staff on Monday January 21, 2008.
The district posted and accepted applications from both within and outside the district for approximately one month. Four Dunklin volunteer firefighters, and one firefighter from an outside fire department applied for the competitive process.
All three firefighters hired are experienced Dunklin Firefighters. Dustin Blake, Larry Gould and Shane Reinbold are the three firefighters who have been hired.
The additional firefighters benefits and salary have been made possible with the tax revenue generated by the passing of the August 2006 Tax Levy, which took nearly 20 years to successfully pass.
Hiring additional full time firefighters was a promise to the citizens and community if the tax levy was passed.
This is the second phase of hiring since the passing of the tax levy. The last hiring process was January 2007, by adding three full time firefighters.
This brings the total amount of full time firefighters to nine, a substantial increase from three, prior to the passing of the tax levy.
