Burning Regulations / Permits
The Dunklin Fire Protection District no longer issues general burning permits. Instead, the Department of Natural Resources has provided the following guidelines which a citizen shall abide by when burning. A copy of these guidelines may also be obtained by stopping by Dunklin Headquarters. Please keep in mind that if someone calls 9-1-1 to report an "illegal burn" we must respond, investigate and submit any violations to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

THESE GUIDELINES ARE ISSUED UNDER THE DIRECTION FROM THE MISSOURI DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES.
1.) All burning shall take place between the hours of 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. The fire must be extinguished by 4:00pm.
2.) Only natural vegetation waste 6 inches in diameter or less shall be burned. Burning shall take place in an area or pile no larger than 4' x 4'.
3.) The burning shall be supervised at all times. A garden hose or buckets of water shall be present near the burn area at all times.
4.) The burning shall take place a minimum of 50' from any structure.
5.) No trash, rubbish, or flammable liquid shall be used to start the fire or burned
with the fire.
6.) No rubber, plastic, furniture, mattresses, tires, shingles, vinal siding, treated lumber, etc. shall be burned.
7.) The burning shall take place only on the premises where it originated.
8.) The Dunklin Fire Protection District shall not be held liable for any negligent burning.
9. No open burning is allowed in the incorporated City Limits of Pevely, or Herculaneum.
